I'm taking on The Big Mission Home!
I am taking part in The Big Mission Home and walking our city this March to raise funds for the Auckland City Mission - Te Tāpui Atawhai.
For more than a century, the Mission has been supporting Aucklanders in their times of need - providing nutritious food, homes, crisis support, medical care and dignity. As the Mission continues to respond to huge demand for their essential services, they need our help more than ever.
I am raising funds to help support the services provided at the Mission’s HomeGround where:
- every day between 250 – 350 people who are living on the streets or have no access to cooking facilities receive a hot nutritious meal in Haeata – the Community Dining Room. For many this meal is the only food they have each day.
- Over 2,000 people receive vital and affordable health care at the Calder Health Centre.
- During the day people living on the streets or in unsafe accommodation have a safe place to rest, wash and connect with Mission staff for support.
- People with drug or alcohol dependency can access a professional social withdrawal (detox) service
- 80 people who were homeless or on the social housing registry now call home in the apartments
- People are able to access support with affordable housing, job training, budgeting, Government support and community activities.
Please support me by making a donation. Big or small, everything you can give will make a difference to Aucklanders in greatest need.
Thank you!

Good luck Georgia for the huge walk! The City Mission is a great cause and looks after people a lot less fortunate than us. Someone in need will get food, shelter or help because of what you are doing. That's aroha. Mimi xx

Great cause Georgia helping people who suffer misfortune in life. A society is measured by how we treat the poor and the homeless. Good luck on the walk!

What a lovely thing to do. I think doing something for someone else without expecting something in return is one of the finest things an individual can do. Very proud of you. Grandpa
