What is Feed it Forward?

One in five New Zealanders can't afford enough food or worry about where their next meal is coming from.  The cost of living is pushing more people into hardship, with rising housing, transport, and power costs - leaving little or nothing for food.

At Auckland City Mission – Te Tāpui Atawhai, we believe no one in Aotearoa should go hungry.

Feed it Forward is an ongoing campaign which asks our community to collect and donate non-perishable food or funds for food.

Enough good food gives energy so kids can learn, and parents can work.  This, along with wraparound support, enables people to move towards better health and improved circumstances - so everyone can thrive.

Thank you for organising to Feed it Forward today.

Jodie's Story

"I felt human again..."

Jodie never imagined she’d one day need the help of a food bank. She had a successful career, a loving family, and owned her own home. When a medical emergency last year turned her life upside down, support from the Auckland City Mission – Te Tāpui Atawhai helped Jodie and her family through their time of crisis.

Edward's Story

Breaking the Cycle

Edward is determined to give his children something he never had: the chance of a better life. With food support from the Mission, he’s working hard to break the cycle of trauma and poverty.

Edward’s own childhood was tough: “Growing up wasn’t so easy. I came from a broken family. I was out on the street at 12.”
