I'm fundraising for something I believe in.

The copy Auckland City Mission wrote is below. Here's what I have to say:

People I love very much have used services provided by Auckland City Mission. This organisation honoured the dignity of my loved ones and kept them going through some super tough times. Their lived experience amplifies my believe in this organisation.

In April 2023, my home state, Missouri, criminalised homelessness. I cannot fix it there. I am proud to live in a place that seeks to help all manner of unhoused people, including those with significant disorders to tackle - mental, substance use, neurological, physical. 

This mission offers residential detox for the housed and unhoused, distributes food parcels, and takes the best care they can of the invisible you see on the streets. 

Healthcare is just about fully funded in this country, but you still have to pay a copay for service. The mission facilitates affordable healthcare through their attached GP practice. Those on a benefit, which the mission facilitates, don't have to pay a penny. 

The mission helps those without a fixed address access services they would not be able to otherwise.

I am taking part in The Big Mission Home this March to raise funds for the Auckland City Mission - Te Tāpui Atawhai.

For more than a century, the Mission has been supporting Aucklanders in their times of need - providing nutritious food, homes, crisis support, medical care and dignity.  As the Mission responds to unprecedented demand for their essential services, they need our help more than ever.
