At Haeata, our community dining room, our chefs and volunteers prepare fresh meals daily for approximately 300 people in need, 7 days a week. For people experiencing homelessness or who can’t access cooking facilities easily, Haeata offers a safe and welcoming space for kai and connection.
This Christmas, we will be hosting two Christmas meals at Haeata. This is in addition to us distributing thousands of food and gift packages to families in need.
One in five New Zealanders experience food insecurity - they can't afford enough food and worry about where the next meal is coming from.
More than just a meal
Our community dining room, Haeata assumes an essential role in the wraparound support services we provide. Haeata serves as a stepping stone to connecting individuals to services such as healthcare, social worker support, housing assistance, community engagement, or the warmth of a friendly face.

Now living in transitional housing provided by the Auckland City Mission, Lechelle is enrolled in a mental health and wellbeing course, and is looking forward to helping others in the community once she graduates.
