I'm taking on The Big Mission Home!

I am taking part in The Big Mission Home this March to raise funds for the Auckland City Mission - Te Tāpui Atawhai.

The Big Mission Home is a 17 kilometre sponsored walk to raise vital funds to support people experiencing homelessness and poverty.

For more than a century, the Mission has been supporting Aucklanders in their times of need - providing nutritious food, homes, crisis support, medical care and dignity.  As the Mission responds to unprecedented demand for their essential services, they need our help more than ever.

Kia ora everyone, 

Tomorrow is the big day and I would like to say a huge THANK YOU 🙏 to everyone who has donated so far to my fundraising for the Auckland City Mission. I am truly overwhelmed by your generosity and words of encouragement ❤️

A few people have asked me, why the sponsored walk is 17kms and not 15 or 20kms? 🤔

17 kilometres is symbolic of the daily challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness in our city. City Mission staff worked with a small group of rough sleepers in central Auckland to understand how far they were walking every day. They found, that some streeties walk as much as 17km in a day - rain or shine - to access kai, shelter and other essential support, as well as to connect with other street whānau.

Thank you again for supporting the work of The Auckland City Mission and our homeless brothers and sisters.
